Sarah and Jacob took advantage of the beautiful Maltese weather, and held their bohemian inspired wedding at Ir-Razzett Labjad, Malta. Though the pandemic changed their plans, it didn't hold them back and any obstacle thrown in their way was overcome; the bride wore a stunning gown purchased for less than £30, they had a Pizza reception, and opted for a more untraditional ceremony due to restrictions. The now Mrs Dingli tells us all about their perfect day...
Tell us all about your wedding theme...

Bohemian inspired, wanted simple and natural. the wedding was very untraditional due to restrictions.

What kind of ceremony did you have and did you have any readings?

Registrar and my oldest school friend did a reading about marriage being like a dog (we have 2!)

Something Old: Earrings

Something New: Necklace

Something Borrowed: Bracelet

Something Blue: Charm

What was your favourite part of the day?

When the disco turned into karaoke!

What was the most emotional moment of the day?

For me it was my mum arriving to help me finish getting ready. For Jacob it was the first dance, he blubbered.

Advice for future brides…

It is just a single day, its over so fast so enjoy every minute. Don’t put so much pressure on it being ‘perfect’ as it'll be amazing no matter what!

Song you walked down the aisle to: Hero, violin version (we are diehard fans of Enrique)

Ceremony Songs: Disney instrumentals

Recessional Song:  Everlasting Love

First Dance: A Thousand Years

Did you make any Wedding DIYs?

Tonnes! all decor was DIY including the all the flowers, centrepieces and seating plan.

What was your wedding must-have?

A microphone so the people at the back can hear, oh and plenty of tissues for the blubbering guests

What was your favourite wedding purchase?

My perfume - it will forever remind me of the wedding

Tell us all about the dress…

Funny story, I initially bought my dress back in March 2019 not knowing what was to come.  Because of restrictions I couldn't get my dress altered (it needed a lot of alterations).  I Went on the hunt for a last-minute dress and found a copy of a dress I loved on wish. It was £18 and cost me £10 to get it altered to fit me perfectly. I've never had so many compliments in my life everybody said they love my dress and it was under £30. Totally regret spending around £1000 on my original dress which is now sat in the wardrobe.

Tell us all about your wedding cake...

Our cake was a ‘naked’ white chocolate and raspberry cake topped with gypsophila flowers.

What food did you have at your wedding?

Because of restrictions our original caterers cancelled on us two months before the wedding. We were supposed to have a barbecue. In the end we ordered dominoes which we all shared, it was delicious and who doesn't have pizza!? The branch we ordered from had never done a wedding before so they threw loads of freebies including cheesy garlic bread and cookie desserts.

How did you choose your venue?

We wanted lots of outside space to make the most of the Maltese weather.

Favourite wedding supplier:

Dominos and our photographer

Is there anything you wish you'd done differently?

I wish I told Jacob to turn around when I was walking down the aisle. My friend told him to face the other way so the whole time I was walking down panicking.

Were there any surprises on the day?

My grandparents couldn't make it to Malta wanna FaceTime and my Nan said hello at the beginning of the ceremony.

Funniest moment of the day:

Jacob tying his shirt  like Britney Spears singing oops i did it again

Funniest wedding photograph:

All of the bridesmaids dancing to ‘who run the world Girls’, we all look like we’re going for it!

Favourite wedding planning moment:

Two weeks before when we knew our flights hadn't been cancelled and the wedding was actually going ahead!

Worst wedding planning moment:

Constant worry whether or not the wedding could even happen and caterers cancelling on us, along with guests being unable to. 100+ guests originally but for safety we stuck to 50.

What was your first dance song?

Our first dance song was ‘ A thousand years’. The song is in the final Twilight film which was one of the first films me and Jacob saw together in the cinema. We tried to practice at home and Jacob started welling up so we had to stop.
