Rhiannon and Ryan were wed last summer in an intimate and romantic ceremony at Haselbury Mill. They opted for a purple and grey colour scheme, with the bridesmaids in alternating plum and lilac dresses, and groomsmen with ties to match; a perfect pop of colour against the brides beautiful Wed2be gown. The now Mrs Bastable tells us all about their special day, and the reason behind their fun decision to invite 2 extra, furry, guests to their wedding, Alpacas! Keep reading to see the amazing photos...
Tell us all about your wedding theme and colour scheme...
We decided to go for two shades of purple & grey. As our wedding was a summer wedding, we didn't want any dark colours, so the bridesmaids were in plum and lilac dresses & the groomsmen were in grey suits with matching ties to the bridesmaids and we used the two shades of purple to decoration the venue such as the chair sashes, and bunting.
Something Old: I wore a ring that belonged to my gran.
Something New: my mum bought my jewellery to wear on the day, I had pear earrings & necklace.
Something Borrowed: I borrowed an old sixpence off of my dad as I was also told it was good luck to have with you on the day.
Something Blue: my best friend bought me a beautiful garter that had a blue ribbon and on the ribbon had my new surname and wedding date on.
What was your favourite part of the day?
Despite plans having to be changed due to covid 19 the whole day was just perfect and I loved every minute of it, of course the ceremony of where I actually got to become a wife was really special but the morning getting ready with my bridal party was so much fun! After not being able to spend much time with them during the lockdown it was nice to all be together and feel 'normal' and have a laugh!
Advice for future brides…
It’s yours and your husband’s day, do what makes you happy, you don't need to try and please everyone. If you are getting too stressed or upset, it isn't worth it, it's only one day it's goes really quick make sure it's special for the two of you because it'll be your day to look back on.

Did you make any Wedding DIYs?
We had lots! I'm very lucky that one of bridesmaids is very good at DIY do she helped me out a lot and luckily due to lockdown and not being able to work I had plenty of time to make some stuff also. We made bunting, the favours, placenames, seating plans, signs, I bought fake flowers and arranged my aisle decorations with them.
Did you have have anything unusual at your wedding?
We had alpacas at our wedding. I honestly don't know how we came to that decision. We both love animals, love going to zoos, doing animals interactions at zoos etc and one day we saw that you can have alpacas at your wedding and we thought that it was different so why not. Found a place reasonably local to us who was amazing, they brought two alpacas along, dressed them in bow ties to match our colour theme and we all got to stroke them, walk them, feed them and have photos with them. It was so much fun, and everyone loved them!
Tell us all about the dress and dress shopping…
I went to Wed2b in Exeter, the first shop I went in. I knew roughly that I wanted a fitted style rather than a princess style. I tried the princess style to make sure, but it wasn't for me. The lady in Wed2b was amazing and the third dress I tried was the one! I was just lost for words! I tried a few others on in the same style to make sure, but the third dress was the one and I purchased it there and then and didn't need to look anywhere else.
Tell us all about your wedding cake...
Our wedding cake was made by my talented friend I mentioned earlier who helped with the DIY. The original plan was a three-tiered cake, one lemon, one Victoria and one chocolate but due to having to reduce our guest numbers we changed it to one tier and some cupcakes. We had a chocolate cake with grey marble effect icing to match the grey part of our theme then we had purple flowers and ribbon to match the purple part of our theme. As our topper we had a panda bride and groom - we got engaged on our California road trip and a big part of that trip was seeing the pandas at San Diego zoo as they are one of our favourite animals. We then had purple cupcakes.
What food did you have at your wedding?
After the ceremony we had canapés. We then had a three-course meal and in the evening, we were meant to have a buffet but due to reduced numbers we changed it to bacon rolls.
How did you choose your venue?
We looked at a number of venues in and around our area, Haselbury Mill was the last one we looked at but we had both had our school proms there so we knew roughly what it was like. We had our minds set on the first venue we looked at but after meeting Minnie at Haselbury and looking around etc we just knew Haselbury was for us. They are so lovely there and they proved that when they did all they could to make our wedding perfect during the pandemic. The grounds at Haselbury are beautiful and we wanted an outdoor ceremony and Haselbury was beautiful for that.
Tell us about your Honeymoon:
We had a mini moon just after our wedding in Bude, Cornwall. We stayed in a shepherd’s hut with a hot tub. Our main honeymoon was due to happen in January 2021 but had been postponed until next year. We are going to New Zealand for just over 2 weeks, we are hiring a car and driving around different parts. We have some day trips booked such as a whale watching trip, a trio to Hobbiton where Lord of the rings was filmed, and an overnight boat stay. After New Zealand we are getting a private helicopter to Fiji for 4 nights to finish off with some relaxation. We are very much looking forward to going when it is safe to do so.
Tell us about your wedding favours:
I made hangover kits for our favours. I wanted something fun and most people like to let loose at weddings and have a good time so u thought the hangover kits would be a good one for our guests in the morning. They included coffee, paracetamol, plaster, sweets, mint and a 1p coin.
