Boho styled English country wedding styled shoot at Dairyhouse Farm

Wednesday, May 19, 2021

This shoot has us feeling excited for summer weddings; big hats and bridal sandals are such a vibe! We love the jumpsuit look too, so chic. Pampas grass and fairy lights are still such a huge trend for 2021. Everything featured in the shoot was sourced locally, handmade and British. Emma of Beautifullight UK Photographer, tells us all about the shoot...

Theme

Boho styled, rustic barn country wedding themed. British & handmade so all products featured are British with many being produced locally to the venue’s location. Textile pallet; Hessian, tweed, grass, willow, muslin, felt, wool & copper. Colour pallet; Peach, Cream, shades of Brown, dark Green foliage, metallic copper accents

Inspiration

This is a styled shoot shot over 2 days at a former dairy farm in Somerset which after being in the family for 4 generations is now launching as a wedding venue. In 2020 Dairyhouse Farm secured a marriage licence to enable ceremonies to take place onsite.  This shoot was designed to promote that by picking up on the current interest in alternative outdoor style ceremonies in the UK.

We wanted to present a Boho styled English country wedding theme, taking influences from Bianca Jagger, natural textiles & including nods to the farm venue in the details of the props and styling. We also wanted to emphasise the beauty of local, British and handmade so all products featured are British with many being produced locally to the venue’s location.

The Look

So, the scene was set as a 1970’s boho style outside ceremony, with the bride in a trouser suit (All in one) designed by House of Ollichon & the groom in a tweed 3 piece tailored suit. Bride also wears a bespoke wide brimmed floppy hat designed by a local designer and carries a hand crocheted bouquet. Complimented by handmade wedge shoes, also by a small UK designer. The makeup style was fresh, youthful & ‘country bride’.

Venue

The locations shot are all within the venue, we used ; The Orchard, Dutch Barn, Old milking shed and rustic antique cattle stalls.

Florals

Floral arrangements were designed to include real peaches, pampas grass, twisted willow and peach/cream blooms, metallic copper & dark green foliage accents.

Styling

The Interior design is rustic, with trestle tables dressed candlelight, enamelware, handmade stationary & hessian. muslin & linen printed textiles. Many of the other background props were supplied by the venue.  Nick, one of the owners is a keen collector of old vintage vehicles & memorabilia so the venue is terrific to shoot around with an abundance of props & backdrops.

Suppliers

I designed a storyboard and researched the predicted wedding trends to take some of those trends into the theme. I then advertised for and researched suppliers who met our theme criteria (British, local, independent small businesses).
