Luxury and Decadence with added vamp styled shoot

Wednesday, April 21, 2021

We were so excited when this shoot landed in our inbox, it's so similar to the Autumnal dream wedding Lauren has been planning with burgundy and blush and accents of gold - her groom is even wearing a tweed suit! That velvet sofa and flower arch is our new favourite combo. Shoot photographer Denise, of Angels with Dirty Faces Photography, tells us all about the concept and inspo...

Inspiration

This Brocket Hall wedding styled shoot was the vision of Kim Marshall, florist at Bloom in Gorgeous. Above all, Kim was inspired by romance and opulence. Therefore she wanted the shoot to ooze luxury whilst keeping an edgy vampy twist. With a nod towards the Autumn months, floral tones were kept warm, strong and deep, featuring reds and pinks. In addition, gold was introduced, adding luxury and decadence.

Styling

Kim @ Bloom in gorgeous was the stylist behind this shoot, she said this about the styling… "To create a romantic luxury vibe was  my vision. You can't beat red and gold together with the extra colour additions of gold and a hint of blue. I wanted it to look pretty as well as having the wow factor! Bringing in the red sofa just added the finishing touch with indoor/outside look, with that definite look of romance and luxury. I wanted to use a gold candelabra for the table centre to add to that high end look with gold, candles and all the tableware all coordinating."

Flowers

Kim @ Bloom in Gorgeous had this to say about her flowers…  "I love red roses and I think that teamed with a subtle pale pink they are a match made in heaven. Maybe not a colour that people would generally think would work but they  look amazing and so romantic. I added a little added touch of dark blue in the berries and blue eryngium ,along with  lots of mixed foliages. Beautiful eucalyptus with trailing foliages and variegated English hydrangeas were mixed together with this in the moon gate which had a mix of all the colours in them to pull it all together."

Venue

Tucked within the grounds of Brocket Hall, Auberge Du Lac sits over looking the lake. Impressively, the red brick Brocket Hall can be seen in the distance. In short Auberge Du Lac is the perfect venue for your wedding day. Formerly the hunting lodge, this idyllic building is flanked by 543 acres of estate. There’s no shortage of beautiful photography locations. For example you can choose sweeping vistas of green. Alternatively go for intimate old doors, steps and gardens. Similarly, should it rain, inside is grand and classic. Beautiful huge windows create sunning pockets of light. Ideal for beautiful wedding portraits.

Bridal Style

Several dresses were used in this shoot. We wanted to showcase a number of styles to suit all shape brides. Kindly lent to us for the day by Ivory and Lace Bridal. Charlotte George make up agreed to do the bridal make up. Once given her brief for the shoot, Charlotte applied her magic! She said “I wanted to go for a twist on a classic bridal make up. So I made the eyes slightly more dramatic using champagne and bronze tones. Consequently, adding black liner on the top and a brown liner helps to bring out our models blue eyes. For her hair, I wanted a textured up do. One in which we could incorporate some flowers. Subsequently we could then take down later for a soft tousled look.”

Stationery

Hand painted from a brief given by Kim, the stationery features a beautiful  water colour print of the venue. Matching the colours of the shoot theme of pinks and reds. Created by Pink Peony Weddings.

Photography

Ordinarily my wedding photography style is relaxed and natural. I’m a lover of candid and uncontrived moments. Therefore, I’ll always shoot the majority of your wedding day unnoticed. Your wedding day and all it’s moments will dictate how your finished gallery of pictures look. I’ll shoot honestly hoping that looking at your photos take you right back to your day!  Kim wanted this shoot to be all about decadence with a slight edge. Therefore, working with two models enabled me to direct their poses a little adding extra “quirk” to the shots.

Suppliers

A number of the suppliers who collaborated on the shoot have become friends over the years. Having met many through mutual clients, working together and sharing in a wedding suppliers group. It was important to have suppliers who are passionate about their area whilst generous with their time. Also, each supplier needed to be an expert in their field able to follow a brief to realise a vision. Importantly, enthusiasm and being able to work within a team helps!
