Ultra Boho Neutral Wedding Styled Shoot at The Old Kent Barn

Wednesday, February 24, 2021

This styled shoot has all the neutral boho goodness that we are simply obsessed with at the moment! The attention to detail and relaxed atmosphere makes it all feel so luxe. The set up is perfect for an intimate micro wedding. Wedding planner and shoot organiser, Rebecca Brennan-Brown, tells us all about the details...

Theme

One thing that’s important to note from the offset, this shoot was supposed to be largely outside with horses and more farm like styling. Cut to the morning of during a horrific storm, we all had to think on our feet and come up with a plan. Olegs and Russel worked with some less than perfect lighting and I think it’s fair to say they created some incredible results!

Trends

We wanted to take the popular boho trends and move them along slightly by adding in a western inspired element. Personally, the ultra boho neutrals are my absolute fav, and I wanted to create something which could easily work across all seasons.

Inspiration

The real star of this styling is texture; it was important to make sure that in every image there was a mix of contrasting qualities. From varying heights of grasses to the perfectly placed fur throws, every element added to the depth and movement of the shoot. We used natural cotton branches and faux calf skin as a nod back to the Western design, noted again later in the bride’s cowboy boots.

Tones

Keeping the palette neutral added to the impact throughout this shoot, with the bark table runner echoing the wooden beams, and dried lunaria mirroring the bride’s beautiful porcelain skin. We wanted to show how to be bold you don’t have to use extensive colour. Throughout the shoot you can see different neutral pieces designed to stand out such as the incredible array of crowns, and the unique cake design.

Planning

Each detail of this shoot was meticulously planned, from the modern and traditional clashing fonts on the invites, to the lipstick colour reflecting terracotta plants. Everywhere you look, there’s a lot going on. But everything cohabits beautifully alongside one another.

Suppliers

Each supplier was carefully chosen for the art of their craft. Olegs, Kylie and I sat down at OKB one evening and spent a few hours handpicking friends and colleagues to join the shoot. Most of the suppliers we had worked with before, or seen eye catching imagery on Instagram. It was the utter dream team for a shoot, and we all had such a laugh eating pizza on the stormy day of the shoot!
