Lauren and Ross were one of the lovely couples featured in our Lockdown Love feature after postponing their August wedding. Their rescheduled date at Sorn Castle on 5th December was also thrown into chaos when the area was moved into tier 4, meaning no wedding receptions are permitted, so we're crossing everything for their third date on 12th December! We've loved watching Lauren's wedding planning journey on Instagram, keep up with her and Ross (and their cat Mimi) @thisedinburghlife. Hopefully we'll be sharing their wedding soon!
How did you meet and how long have you been together?
We met whilst working in a restaurant together - very cliche, he was the bartender and I was the waitress - 9+ years later and here we are!
Tell us your proposal story...
Ross and I had booked a trip to Naples and Rome and whilst we were in Naples he had sneakily brought the ring with him and proposed one evening before dinner. It was so special.
Why did you decide to have a pre-wedding shoot?
It was actually part of our package but I would 100% recommend it for if you are uneasy and to get you excited for the wedding!
Why did you choose the shoot location?
We are originally from Ayrshire and considered doing the shoot in our home town. Our lovely friend had suggested that we get the shoot in Edinburgh so we could remember Edinburgh always even when we move away from here in coming years. It was a great idea and so we couldn’t not do Arthurs Seat with the castle in prime place to create memories of the city where we fell in love.
Did you feel nervous behind the camera?
At the beginning yes, but Dan worked his magic and it really just felt like we had a laugh for 2hs!
Did you find the shoot helpful for helping you feel more prepared for the wedding day?
100% - it made us feel far more comfortable with the idea and genuinely we had so much fun!
Would you recommend that other couples have an engagement shoot?
Definitely. Our photographer also asked us what our favourite shots were and genuinely the ones we didn’t like so he could tailor how he would shoot on us on the wedding day.
Did your photographer give you any tips before the shoot?
Not really aside from relax and have fun!
What advice would you give to other couples who do plan to have a pre-wedding shoot?
Wear comfortable clothes and just relax!
Were there any stand out moments in the shoot?
As we got up to the crags it was just breathtaking.
What is your favourite photo from the shoot?
Probably the ones where my double chin makes an appearance, you can’t fake that happy!
Tell us about your wedding plans...
Small (thanks covid) with golds and florals and a ‘nod’ to Christmas!
What are you most looking forward to about the wedding date?
Marrying Ross finally!
What has been your favourite part of wedding planning so far?
I think it’s all been rather tough however ever since we focused on planning our small wedding, we have really enjoyed thinking up all the ways to make the day the most special ever give the budget left over! I really loved the process of designing our wedding rings also with Bercotts.
