An Autumnal Harvest Styled Shoot at Meadowfield

Thursday, October 15, 2020

This gorgeous autumnal styled shoot was planned and styled by Lily Jones Events in collaboration with lots of other wonderful Kent suppliers. We love the warm tones and sustainable boho styling, with dried flowers, mini pumpkins and pampas - absolutely perfect for this time of year! Lily tells us all about the inspiration behind the shoot and the styling...

Inspiration

In October 2019, our team of over 20 talented local wedding suppliers, lead by myself and Ashleigh Joy Photography, gathered to create an inspirational shoot that would really showcase and compliment this magical woodland venue and highlight its unique offerings. Using the deep colours of autumn and natural and romantic bohemian inspiration, we created a shoot that blends beautifully into the natural surroundings.

Theme

We wanted to bring out the beauty of the natural surroundings at Meadowfield in October and so went with an Autumnal Harvest theme which we achieved by combining dried flowers, mini pumpkins and pampas. Every aspect of the shoot from the tweed suit to the chrysanthemum shoe brooches and embroidered bridal gown gave this shoot its natural and eco-friendly feel using browns, burnt orange, gold and cream to tie everything together.

Location

Set in the beautiful, historic location of Bedgebury, at the heart of the High Weald of Kent, Meadowfield is a brand new wedding venue of fields, woodlands, a park like garden and even a tinkling stream under an ivy clad, 300 year old stone bridge. This idyllic setting is steeped in history and has been lovingly restored by the Hume family, uncovering original preserved features of the original furnace along the way. After working alongside English Heritage to preserve its natural and historical features, Meadowfield will be opening its doors for couples in 2021 who are looking to get married in this whimsical, romantic setting.

Flowers

The flowers were created by the very talented Gwenda at Bohotanical who completely grasped the exact feel of the shoot. She created an installation for the ceremony arch, flower crown, bouquet, buttonhole and table arrangements in boho bottles. Having the flowers spread across all these elements is a great way to tie your whole day together and make everything look beautiful. All these arrangements were made with dried flowers which are great to symbolise the harvest season and will last for a long time after your big day!

Styling

I styled the shoot to fit in with the natural surroundings. Our chill out seating area created by Locate to Create and wedding breakfast table were set amongst the trees and used natural colours to seamlessly fit into the woodland. I used beautiful vintage crockery and glassware from Harriet’s table that featured autumnal motifs and gold patterns to compliment the vintage burnt orange silk table runner. I then added to the autumnal feel with mini gold, white & natural pumpkins and gold feathers.

Suppliers

Ash and I love working together and I really enjoy bringing her ideas and inspiration to life. We worked together to hand pick all the other suppliers involved through recommendations and social media as we believed their style was well suited to this theme and we loved what they could bring to the table.
