Tiffany's bridal edit: choosing our theme

Saturday, September 12, 2020

We knew when we started planning the wedding that we wanted something fun, and not too traditional. We toyed with a few different ideas; Hallowedding - skull shot glasses as favours, pumpkin table decor; Music - Band table names, gig style signage; we were even tempted by a Christmas wedding because I am obsessed! Christmas was a straight no when we booked the date though haha, Christmas in September might be frowned upon...

How we decided on our theme

Our original wedding date was booked for 19th September 2020, our anniversary. Which then got us thinking back to the day we met, and how we might be able to incorporate that into the theme of our wedding, making it really personal to us. So the day we met we were at a beach and as it got later, and darker, the stars became super visible! My fiance, Elliot, was trying to teach me the different constellations, which was hilarious because I didn't have a clue what any of them were, and all I spotted was the shape of Winnie The Pooh! Anyway, constellations, star gazing... Celestial theme!

As soon as the idea struck, I was straight on pinterest. We got so much inspo and got really excited about the theme, it was so us, and also so special. I can just picture us sitting at our sweetheart table, looking up at the ceiling of the venue with the hanging stars, and just thinking back to that first day. The theme really couldn't be more perfect!

Incorporating our theme into our wedding

One thing we didn't want to do was go nuts and have all celestial everything, like star napkins, star table runners, star confetti.. you get the idea. I think that might be too much! We have chosen a colour scheme of champagne gold + black; like the night sky and stars, and added a few pieces of star decor to compliment that.

Our guest tables will have white table cloths with a gold sequin table runner, mismatch candles for centerpieces intertwined with some star shaped fairy lights (twinkling sky vibes), and a table number on black card with gold writing and mini moon + star illustrations. The place settings will be white plates with black fabric napkins, a black name card with the name written in gold calligraphy, and a wedding favour placed on top which is a clear lollipop with edible gold glitter and star sprinkles.

All of our signage will be black, and will have a slight celestial nod. For example instead of a our seating plan saying "Find your seat", it is going to say "Let's sit beneath the stars" - which is actually accurate because we will have some star lanterns hanging from the ceiling too!

If you would like to see more of how we are incorporating our theme, I have shared everything over on my own planning insta @theholdenwedding.

I can't wait to share more of our celestial plans with you!

From Tiffany, with love xo
