12.09.2020
On Saturday 12th September 2020 we were supposed to get married, however due to Covid we had to postpone until 10th September 2021. We didn't want the date to pass without marking the occasion so we organised a mini celebration. Restrictions meant that we only had a total of 8 people (including us) but our family and friends went above and beyond to make the day special for us...
In the morning my mum surprised me with the most beautiful bouquet in our wedding colours from her and my bridesmaid. She had sent the florist inspo pics from my wedding Instagram.
We then snapped a couple of pics with our cat, Jasmine, in her little flower girl collar I made her.
Matthew and I exchanged lovely cards, and I wrote him a poem. This was his reaction...
Saturday 12th September
A day we’ll always remember
But it wasn’t meant to be
Unlike you and me.
We should be at Ednam House
Preparing to say our vows,
But we’ll have to wait a little longer
Tough times make our love grow even stronger.
Since April 2015 I knew
That my heart and soul were made for you.
Matthew, you’re my everything
I can’t wait to wear my wedding ring.
Matthew had the biggest bouquet of dried flowers (my favourite) delivered from MUD flowers and I couldn't help but cry a little bit! I went from feeling like the unluckiest bride in the world to the luckiest. We then headed to my granny's house where we set up a small gazebo in the garden. Unfortunately the weather was very much against us! It was so windy that our things kept blowing away, and then the torrential rain started. We were adamant that we wanted to stay outside due to the risk of covid, keeping our family and friends safe was our top priority. To be honest, the weather made the day even more memorable!
Welcome to our Would Be Wedding
We ordered a one tier wedding cake from a local bakery and decorated it with some fresh flowers. We ordered a cake topper from our fav calligraphy queen The Amyverse, which read "Almost Mr & Mrs Prichard".
I designed some signage to display on little easels but unfortunately it was just too windy! Even the metal candlesticks were blowing over. I also made a guestbook/scrapbook with vinyl from The Amyverse.
We asked our family and friends to send us messages and toasting photos that we could put in it, receiving so many messages was so heart-warming. We also took some polaroids on the day and asked those who joined us to write a little something too!
Time for Photos
The Nearlyweds
Mother of the bride
Grandmother of the bride
My granny looked out her special flutes for a toast, it meant so much to us and we really felt like the bride and groom.
Cheers to the Nearlyweds
We set up some sparkly lemonade in a drinks dispenser and gave the choice of our favourite mixers; violet gin, chambord or blue curaçao and served it in little milk bottles. We had enough for 2 per guest so that we didn't have to rely on any washing up. My granny even added some of her garden flowers to the ice she made us - it's the little details that meant the most! And, of course, we had some hand sanitiser (spread love, not germs). My bridesmaid Laura-Jane also brought us a chalkboard which she'd made a wordsearch on with all the words relating to our wedding! Unfortunately the rain kept washing it off and she had to rewrite it about 3 times...
My mum bought us matching tees that she had seen in Lockdown Love: Part 1. Then it was time to cut the cake (and awkardly feed each other a bit!)
All you need is love... and cake
Sprinkle the Love
Then we threw some confetti in the rain...
...and exchanged Haribo wedding rings. You can see we were quite soaked at this point, but still having the best day. We played some games including wed-libs and a bride and groom trivia which was great fun.
My granny read us a poem that she had written for us too. For our "wedding breakfast" we ordered fish and chips for everyone, that way everything was self contained and covid secure. This was some of the aftermath...
We were spoilt with cards and gifts from our loved ones.
We absolutely love this print from The Amyverse (use code FROMBRIDESWITHLOVE for 15% off) - now 12.09.2020 will always hold happy memories.
We spent the next day in our matching tees and eating pizza.A huge thank you to everyone who made our would be wedding day so special, you all mean the world to us!
