After their recent microwedding we are delighted to share Katie and Dom's dreamy winter engagement shoot. These two just look so cosy and in love! Look out for their July 2020 wedding coming to the blog very soon!

How did you meet each other?

We met on tinder! Classic love stories these days. We had been together for 2 years at the time of the shoot.

Tell us your proposal story...

Dom proposed on top of Arthur’s seat. Dom had convinced me that he wasn’t going to propose that weekend and so I was in such shock when he got down on one knee that the first thing I said was ‘no, no, no, you said you weren’t going to do this!’. I then realized what I had just said to what he had just asked and quickly corrected myself. Afterwards we went to chophouse in Edinburgh and had champagne and some great steak.

Why did you decide to have a pre-wedding shoot?

We had been recommended to have one by friends, they told us it would let us get to know our photographers, become comfortable in front of the camera and provide an opportunity to get some great photos of us as a couple!

How did you choose the shoot location?

We knew we wanted the shoot to be in the mountains and our photographers had done a shoot there before so knew the best spots!

Did you feel nervous behind the camera?

I felt nervous at first, but once we got into the swing of it, I felt very natural.

Tell us about your wedding plans...

Our plan was a large wedding with around 180 people! Because of Coronavirus this didn’t happen. We had a ceremony with just 20 people. We have rescheduled our party until next summer. It will be the biggest one-year anniversary party ever! Our colours were/are burgundy and pale pink. The plan in to have the same bridesmaid and flower girl outfits again next year!

Did you find the shoot helpful for helping you feel more prepared for the wedding day?

Definitely, I was nervous before we started but once we started, I felt much more comfortable, Rachel and Tonie were great. The shoot helped us to know what poses we would be doing on our wedding day and gave us an idea of how it would work on the day.

Would you recommend that other couples have an engagement shoot?

Yes, I would totally recommend it. For all the above reasons but also so you have pictures to use for your wedding and in life. We have our pictures on our wedding website and on our wall. They are pictures we love and want on our walls for a long time.

Did your photographer give you any tips before the shoot?

They told us to wear outfits that complimented each other but didn’t match, not to wear something too bright or bold as it could take away from the pictures. They also suggested that we should wear more casual clothes as that would contrast to our wedding pictures.

Which photo is your fav from the shoot?

There’s a photo of us throwing snowballs at each other that I love!

What advice would you give to other couples who do plan to have a pre-wedding shoot?

Choose a good location! Whether that is somewhere personal to you as a couple or just a good backdrop it makes all the difference. Try and relax and enjoy it, it’s really fun!

Do you plan to incorporate any of the photos into your wedding?

We have used our engagement shoot pictures on our wedding website which makes the website look really well put together!
