Hannah and Vinny had a wonderfully colourful wedding of warm neons and bright blooms, finding inspiration in the unusual form of a Zara tablecloth! Their day was relaxed and represented everything they love as a couple, including flamingos and face painting. Bride Hannah tells us all about their love story and planning their big day...
How did you two meet?
We use to work at a pub called the Mermaid Inn and met in 2005, we had the meal the night before our wedding at the same place for old times sake. We were on and off for 10 years until we were definitely on!
How did you choose your wedding colour scheme?
I absolutely love bright colours so it was a no brainer for us, the brighter the better and neon. Mainly stuck to orange, pinks and yellows.
What was the most emotional moment of the day?
The vows for sure because we wrote our own and didn’t reveal them to each other until the day.
Where did you find all of your inspiration?
I have just always loved all things bright and we also have this Zara Home tablecloth that has safari animals and floral print and bright colours we basically built our theme around that and even had it on the registrar table.
Funniest wedding photograph...
In one of our confetti shot’s my bridesmaid Chloe is pulling a face like she is so offended by the confetti, it makes us laugh everytime we see it, we prefer it to the ones when she looks normal.
Did you make any wedding DIYs?
The back drop, my mom knitted the cake toppers and made loads of origami birds to hang from the window. Signage. invites and save the dates. Our CD favours. Our table plan. I got our seamtress to cut some material off one of the bridesmaid dresses to make pocket squares for the groomsmen and Vinny’s pocket square was made from the cut out in the back of my dress.
What was your favourite wedding planning moment?
Going to get the massive stick from the woods to use for our back drop and then getting it back to the car and realizing it didn’t fit so having to drive with it hanging out of the window.
Did you have have anything unusual at your wedding?
Flamingos, face painting, lots of parents!!
Advice for future brides...
You do you! Everyone will have an opinion but it’s your day just do what you want and what makes you happy, if it’s out there who cares, no one wants to go to a boring wedding anyway. Keep your numbers small.
Is there anything you wish you'd done differently?
Gone bigger! Not in size but not restricting things to conform, i.e we had 2 flamingos if I did it again I’d have more like 12. And llamas I wish we’d had llamas.
What is your wedding must-have?
Videographer - there’s so many little moments that we wouldn’t have ever have seen or remembered if they hadn’t been caught on video. I didn’t realise that when I watched the video it would immediately make me feel every emotion I felt on the day.
Tell us about your Honeymoon...
We went on a minimoon to Croatia 2 days after the weekend for a long weekend and then went on our main honeymoon in September so we had something to look forward to after the wedding. We travelled around Sri Lanka and then went to the Maldives, it was sooo good, we wish we could do it again.
What was your First Dance Song?
Biffy Clyro - Many of Horror. When we use to date the first time Vinny listened to music that was way too heavy for me in the mornings and the only band I could listen to that he also loved was Biffy and they’ve been my favourite band ever since.
