Rebecca + Grant
15.06.2020 │ Penn Woods
Rebecca and Grant are getting married at Notley Abbey on Friday 25th June 2021. Their engagement shoot took place at Penn Woods on a lovely summer's day in June. Bride to be Rebecca tells us about their love story and experience behind the camera with their wedding photographers.
Why did you decide to have a pre-wedding shoot?
We wanted to have the photos for keepsake and get a feel what it was like to work with our photographers professionally.
How did you meet and how long have you been together?
We have been together for just over 5 years and met in a nightclub through mutual friends.
Tell us your proposal story...
We were on holiday in Greece, somewhere we go on holiday quite often. We went up to this beautiful town in the mountains called Zia. It’s a massive tourist attraction to sit and watch the sunset. Me and Grant went up there on the 11th July 2019, we went for a few drinks then went down to watch the sunset, Grant said ‘let me take a photo of you’ so he took a photo of me, he then said ‘let me take one of you facing the sunset’ so I turned around and he took the photo he then said ‘okay, you can turn around now’ as I turned around he was down on one knee!
How did you choose the shoot location?
It's near our house and its got the most amazing photo opportunities.
What is your favourite photo from the shoot?
Were there any stand out moments in the shoot?
There was one moment that sticks in my mind, we were having a photo taken and the photographers shouted at us to kiss, and as we did it was a weird feeling I had in my stomach, almost like butterflies, thinking about how in a year we will be getting married and it was almost like me and Grant were in a bubble, I couldn’t hear or see anyone else, I was just looking at him thinking ‘I cannot wait to marry you’.
Did your photographer give you any tips before the shoot?
Not really, they just said for us to stay calm, and if there were any opportunities that we wanted a specific photo taken for us to just tell them.
Did you feel nervous behind the camera?
Not really, our photographers made us feel so comfortable and calm, they were just making us laugh so the photos were all natural and not forced.
Would you recommend that other couples have an engagement shoot?
I would say it is definitely a good idea, it gives you a sense of how your photographers work professionally and how you and your partner are when it comes to having professional photos taken together.
What advice would you give to other couples who do plan to have a pre-wedding shoot?
I would say make sure you go to your location before the shoot so you can see where the best places to get photos will be, and also to create a board of styles of photos you like so your photographers know what style you want.
Did you find the shoot helpful for helping you feel more prepared for the wedding day?
Yes definitely, it gives you a sense of what it’s going to feel like on the big day.
Do you plan to incorporate any of the photos into your wedding?
Yes, we have a TV in our reception room at the venue, we are going to be making a slideshow of photos of me and Grant from when we were younger throughout our lives, then us meeting and our lives together, our engagement shoot photos will definitely be used in that.
